Mitch Teal
PRINCIPAL BROKER |
Principal
Broker, Mitch Teal was originally licensed in 1979 and began in
resale of residential housing. Having a full time job with Caterpillar
in Dallas was a financial savior in these part time days of 18%-21%
interest. Mitch, although young was wise enough to put his license
in an inactive status during those trying years, only to return
to real estate sales after his employer of 16 + years (Caterpillar)
moved to Mexico.
The focus this time in real estate was new home construction,
augmented by resale of residential properties and bare land sales.
Perhaps being raised on a small farm provided the strong bond
to the land, as Mitch became increasingly interested in Oregon
land use law with all of it’s limitations…limitations
that translated into opportunities, for those who understand them.
Conversion of land use from a former or current use, to a higher
and better use (HABU), stimulated the desire to be involved in
commercial real estate. In addition to his professional activities,
Mitch has joined many a worthy cause over the years.
Mitch was elected to public office in the early 1990s, serving
on the Board of Directors as Treasurer for Suburban East Salem
Water District, and more recently he spent 5 years on the Executive
Board of Directors with the Salem Association of Realtors®
(S.A.R). Mitch took leadership of S.A.R. beginning in January
2006, a role he felt prepared for through his years of committee
service, volunteerism and leadership. He has served as President
of the Willamette Valley Commercial Realtors®, chaired the
Education Committee and the Special Projects Committee which successfully
rehabilitated a home in Keizer formerly used as a methamphetamine
lab.
Honored to be the first recipient of the Bill Frey Memorial Commercial
Transaction of the Year Award in 2003, the President’s Award
from SAR in 2003 and the Salem Association of Realtors 2007 Realtor
of the Year…Mitch remains humble. Seeking balance to his
life, Mitch managed to continually grow his business and has been
proud to be part of the Leading Edge Society, President’s
Circle and President’s Circle Gold through the years, honors
based on closed business production. On a personal level, Mitch
enjoys his role as a single custodial father to his son Bennett,
more than all the other roles combined.
They travel, hunt, fish and just buddy around together whenever
possible. Mitch’s daughter Suzanne is the mother of his
two grandchildren…Shane and Hailey Marie. In addition to
his community, hobbies and family, Mitch has managed to surround
himself with quality people of like mind…Givers.
If the assertion is correct…that the world is filled with
Givers and Takers…it must also be true that it is easier
to peacefully and pleasantly exist by surrounding yourself with
those who share the GIVING philosophy. The members of the CIA,
Inc. endorse the theory by walking the walk, again and again.
The CIA, Inc. encourage and support each other in their community
involvement, providing support and assistance when needed knowing
that another challenge awaits those with the kindness to care
and the willingness to cure. As Principal Broker Mitch Teal says…“The
reward is knowing we play our part and we feel we are proof that
consistent Giving…Gives back!”
PHILOSOPHY
Lead by example, work hard, consider others, extend kindness,
always be honest, don’t make excuses…
good things will result over time.
